Baseball, golf, snow skiing ... all examples of sports where people, some of them famous, have suffered serious injury and even death from being hit in the temple. Paul Camarata, MD, chair of neurosurgery, recalls the names and injuries of several people hit hard in the softest part of their skull starting with Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ.  Happ was hit with ball during major league play in 2013.
